Voting for Gerry Beemiller and Diane Everett will help our School, our students, and our community.
Our school is currently working with a "qualified Budget" and spending most of our reserves down to the minimum requirement. This is a dangerous and fragile way to manage a budget. There is no equity for staff/administration when it comes to compensation or negotiations.
Our classrooms are over-crowded causing a danger for emergency evacuations and stress for students cramped in tight quarters. Backpacks and music instruments must be kept outside of the classrooms to make room to walk between crowded desks and chairs. Illness spreads quickly in crowded spaces. The teacher to student ratio has widened over the last three years causing teachers to spend less time teaching students needing a little extra help our GATE students remain unchallenged academically. The phrase "small class size" has been stretched in pursuit of ADA money for the burdened General funds. Our student's education has become less rather than more enhanced. Programs that were once part of FREE public schooling are now an "additional charge" to parents, thus they are programs only for those who can afford to pay for them.
Our community's concerns are not heard or addressed to satisfaction by the current Board. Parent complaints are often dismissed without follow-up, even when read publically at Board meetings. No action is taken. It has been said by our Board that they do not work for the community even though it is the community that votes them into office and it is the community that supports the school through local Bonds, donations and fundraisers. Who then do they "work" for? See the school web for a written statement by the Board regarding their responcibilities as they see them.
Our API score is TERRIFIC! That is a fact. However, it is not a fact that we are #2 when compared to Districts of equal or "like" characteristics and size. There is a long list of idividual schools in Alameda County that rank higher than Sunol.
Our Principal/Superintendent should not be paid on a parallel with other Superintendents in the area. However no reduction in the current contracted salary can be made- Our district has one (1) school with 261 students and a small staff compared to Districts of multiple schools and hundreds or even thousands of students and proportionate staff as well. There is absolutely NO need for comparison salary consideration based on this FACT.
A vote for Beemiller and Everett is a vote for our children, a vote for our community, a vote for our school. Please vote for honesty, equity and integrity by selecting Gerry Beemiller and Diane Everett on November 2nd.

When we moved our family to Sunol almost six years ago, we fell in love with Sunol Glen. The school created a extended family in which to raise our children. The staff and teachers at the school truly cared for our children and we were comforted knowing that they were being educated in a welcoming and family focused environment.
Since the transition of the new administration 11 out of the 13 teachers left and not to retire. When thi issue was brought to the school board, they did not respond with any concern. For a small, community school, that is an enormous turn over in such a short time frame. Why was this turnover not questioned?
When I have had legitimate concerns and brought them to the board's attention numerous times, my concerns were not well received. In fact, on the contrary, my views and concerns were not respected by any of the current board members. They are the elected officials who are elected to represent the community. At one board meeting, one board member said they were not there to represent the community.
The current board does not question items on the budget, class sizes, policies, programs, or anything brought to their attention. There is not a system of checks and balances in place.
Class sizes have gone up in previous years much to the chagrin of parents. The school is overcrowded at approximately 267 students when it should house 225.
Please vote for the two candidates who will bring honesty, integrity, and a united community back to the school board at Sunol Glen...Diane Everett and Gerry Beemiller
